Mediterranean…Caribbean…Moreton Bay!
Queensland’s first and only fully integrated super yacht marina/shipyard destination, the $150 million Rivergate project, will be launched at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida next week.
The world’s largest boat show, it features more than $1.6 billion worth of boats, yachts, super yachts, electronics, engines and thousands of accessories from every major marine manufacturer and builder worldwide.
Director of Marketing, Ms Kirsten Mackenzie, will represent Rivergate at the Australia Stand.
Ms Mackenzie said that Rivergate would finally place Brisbane on the international super yacht radar, generate millions in local economic activity annually, drive the growth of ancillary industries in Brisbane and create an exciting new local destination.
“These last few years the Australian presence at the Boat Show has grown from just a couple of displays to this year taking up 50% of the main pavilion.
“This year there’ll be 40 to 50 people at the Australia Stand, so we’re really coming into our own.
“It’s little known that Australians and Kiwis make up 40% of the crews and captains in the international super yacht industry.
“Rivergate will go over well because now many of them can come home instead of just cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean all year,” she said.
Ms Mackenzie said that super yacht visits to Australia had grown from five in 2000 for the Olympics to 50 last year, with 80% of them coming to Queensland.
“But there’s 6000 super yachts cruising the world’s oceans, so we hope that knowledge of Rivergate will increase those visits markedly, “ she said.
Rivergate is located adjacent to the Gateway Bridge at the Rivergate Marine and Industry Park, 15 minutes from the CBD, 10 minutes from Brisbane Airport and six nautical miles from Moreton Bay.
Murarrie Developments Pty Ltd, a company associated with Adco Constructions Directors Mr Bob Hill and Ms Judy Brinsmead and Central Properties Corporations’ Mr Stephen Gosling, is undertaking Rivergate.
Aimed at the national and international cruising yacht market, Rivergate is set to become Australia’s leading world-class marina and shipyard facility, providing all yachts from anywhere in the world with the ultimate one-stop-shop.
The local boating and broader community will enjoy new high tech facilities, cafes, restaurants and a ritzy riverfront boardwalk. |
